About the Role:

We are hiring an experienced Odoo Backend Developer to join our engineering team. 
You will take ownership of our Odoo ERP system, including complex module customizations, database & version migrations, and building high-performance REST/JSON-RPC APIs that power our external Next.js web applications and mobile applications.

Important Note on Coding Standards (No AI Tools):
 We value deep engineering fundamentals and real hands-on expertise. 
We do not use AI coding assistants (such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) in our development workflow. Candidates must be able to read documentation, debug, architect, and write clean Python/Odoo code independently. Shortlisted candidates will complete an on-site practical coding assessment without AI tools.

Key Responsibilities:

1- Odoo Customization: 

 Design, develop, and customize Odoo modules (Python, ORM, XML, QWeb, OWL, PostgreSQL) across core business workflows.

2- Version Upgrades & Migration: 

Plan and execute end-to-end Odoo version migrations—refactoring custom modules, resolving deprecations, and writing database migration scripts (pre-migrate / post-migrate / OpenUpgrade) with zero data loss.

3- API Development for Next.js & Mobile Apps: 

Build, secure, and optimize custom Odoo HTTP/REST and JSON-RPC controllers to integrate Odoo seamlessly with our existing Next.js applications and mobile apps.

4- Third-Party Integrations: 

Integrate Odoo with external payment gateways, shipping providers, webhooks, and external services.

5- Performance & Database Optimization: 

Optimize slow ORM queries, PostgreSQL indexes, and API response times for high-traffic external requests.
 

Requirements:

  • 1- 1-2 years of proven, hands-on experience as an Odoo Developer.

  • 2- Proven track record of completing at least 1–2 Odoo version migrations in production.

  • 3- Strong mastery of Python, Odoo ORM, PostgreSQL, and XML without relying on AI code generators.

  • 4- Solid experience designing RESTful APIs / JSON-RPC endpoints in Odoo (handling JWT/Token authentication, 
    5-pagination, rate limiting, and error handling for external frontend apps like Next.js).

  • 6- Strong experience with Git and Docker.
